Best of both worlds
Mac has been getting a whole lot of attension of the last few years mainly due to it’s mobile devices but this has also translated into more people considering a Mac based system over a windows. This is obviously a great thing for two reasons:
1. Without competition, Microsoft stops trying. We saw this happen when Netscape died and as a result we were stuck with IE6 for many years.
2. Mac is providing innovation in direction which other software developers continue to overlook. Thus, we now see MS putting out a “touch” based Windows 8… interesting.
However, if you want to read about OS X love then there are plenty of places you can do it, but here isn’t going to be one of them. For a linux based OS however, the linux distros sure could learn a lot from how Mac has implemented many of its features.
The downside to having competition in a field like IT is incompatibility. Both parties have come a long way mind you in overcoming this, and where the OS manufacturor falls short, the 3rd party vendors pretty much fill the gaps. In fact, third party software has now got so good in this field that you can run Windows apps straight on top of your Mac desktop and you can share a keyboard and mouse between your Windows PC and Mac. To see what I’m talking about, have a look at:
